Well I'll probably make that regardless, I do have some ideas

Bulletproof helmet
Kevlar vest
Jockstrap

For some more offensive gear I'd recommend metal cleats. My melee weapon of choice would be a metal bat, but one could choose a crowbar or club, anything hard with enough extension to keep an aggressor at bay.
