I think a successful model for the fediverse is one where centralized services compliment the existing network. Centralizing some aspects, while retaining the option for anyone to run their own server, is the best of both worlds.

@alex well, big instances are ok "noobie" instances. As long as their users notice the benefits of selfhosting or smaller communities in some way
