Every time I've tried using Tik Tok it's blatantly obvious that it's designed solely for brainless consumption and instant gratification. Even more so than traditional social media (which is also a similar mess)

@quad I think mobile oriented social media like Instagram, SnapChat, and TikTok is the absolute worst. Literally just shitty 5 second videos or slideshows with captions. No actual discussion.
Social media would be 1000x less cancerous without smartphones. Granted, posting via SMS on dumbphones would probably still exist, but it would be a lot better than what we have now.
Sure that's been a thing all the way back to MySpace. But unlike traditional social media, bragging has become nearly the sole purpose of the modern photo/video sharing apps
