Dissenter is over 1.3K commits behind Brave, and that’s if you use the Windows or Linux builds. Dissenter for MacOS is more than 2K commits behind. If you’re using Dissenter, you’re putting yourself at risk.
I think it's doing some kind of crypto scamming in the background, but hidden inside the browser process so it's hard to spot. Since the BAT thing is built in it is probably part of that.
Not that I would use Dissenter, of course.
@judgedread @derek Brave is a crypto mining scam. I recommend Pale Moon (after a few configurations) or Ungoogled Chromium.
@derek @judgedread Never tried it. Apparently the browser makes requests to Google by default.
My only experience with the Opera browser was the Nintendo DS and Wii browsers.

I do appreciate projects that solely exist to strip out spyware, but they're easy to buy out (and start up, I suppose.)
