Basically plebbit's trying to increase the site's value by appealing to brands via having all content be inoffensive. This reminds me of the YouTube adpocalypse where that has now resulted in "no swearing or you don't get money for the video". So as usual corperations ruin fun

Evil Megacorporation tells YouTubers they're no longer allowed to swear: "Yes Daddy Google, I'll go and censor every single swear word in my videos right this second!"
@ChristiJunior @thestrongest The glory days of YouTube were back when people did it for fun and if there was any revenue, then it was just extra gumball money. Now YouTube is just an excuse for zoomers to forgo/drop out of college.
And that's not even getting into the grotesque levels of censorship.
@ChristiJunior @thestrongest Sponsored content is easy to skip though, but sponsorships usually mean that the YouTuber in question is going to be less honest or be forced to self-censor. It really gets on my nerves if they start shilling for shit like VPNs that are known honeypots or some lootbox filled mobile RPG.
I think Patreon is worse. Youtubers would have Q&A sessions and other stuff that used to be done for free but are now blocked behind paywalls. It also gives these YouTubers an excuse to go on long hiatuses as long as there are people who are willing to donate during those droughts. I think a simple Paypal or cryptowallet would be good enough. The former even has a monthly donation option now.
We really need to have a video sharing site that is dedicated to amateur content. Really, the closest thing we got right now is fucking TikTok. Vidlii might be a place for that since it's basically a clone of old school YouTube, but it's mostly used to reupload long-deleted YouTube videos or post Moonman music.
Spoony getting his stupid movie funded through crowdsourcing basically ruined him as a content creator.
