@ChristiJunior Yes, I see it's also on the N64. Well, I do have a 3DS and it's hacked so... :0330:

But it's an old game... does it still hold up today? All to see Sheik and a young Impa? And I have to fight against the camera? Well, gyro aiming does make all the difference in every game.

Otherwise I can wait for the N64 Virtual Console on the Switch.

You're better off waiting for fans to fully decompile the game's source code and port it to Switch natively like Super Mario 64.

Last year, some anonymous programmer used a decompilation of Super Mario 64's source code and ported it to PC, Switch, Android, etc. There's a decompilation of Zelda OOT in progress and I bet they're going to do the same thing.

@xianc78 @ChristiJunior Impressive. So so say that it runs native on the Switch means that it's not like what they did with the 3D All Stars version? I hear it's emulated.

@rasterman @ChristiJunior@neckbeard.xyz Nintendo always uses emulators for ports. The only difference with 3D All Stars is that they used Lua scripts to clean up textures and translate the game's text without editing the ROM itself.

And if you think the native port is impressive check out the mods that have been made with the PC port. One of them replaces the N64 models with models from Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

@xianc78 @ChristiJunior That's crazy. I've seen things like "SM64 remade in Unreal Engine 16K 1000000px" but this is the actual ROM with Brawl models? That's crazy, I say.

@rasterman @ChristiJunior@neckbeard.xyz It really shows what Nintendo could do instead of just selling emulated ROMs. The gigaleak showed that Nintendo does preserve source code and SM64 was programmed in C (a portable language) so they really don't have an excuse. And if people don't like it, they can always turn it off in a settings menu.

But the Brawl models look kind of jarring. For one, they're stilling using the original animations which gives Mario a hunch, and being Brawl, Mario has that constant angry look on his face. There's also a mod that uses models that resemble the ones used as prerenders in promotional material, but I was never a fan of those prerendered models.

@xianc78 @ChristiJunior >prerenders

Looking at all three games in the 3D All Stars collection you can see Nintendo white-washing Mario a little more on each cover. lol
