@thenewoil Truly, fuck advertisers

They had their chances 20 years or so ago and they mostly squandered it by making annoying as fuck and predatory advertising on top of absolutely fucking over everyone on Youtube. They are mostly responsible for that bullshit. Now I cannot see any ads without mostly raging

If they want to move into more aggressive account based advertising, then they're going to hit a fucking massive wall if they think I'm (or anyone, really) gonna give my e-mail and phone number or an account system to access any fucking websites and hopefully will be the dead of corporate internet and back to the early 2000 era of the web

The future of advertising is outright giving content creator money like you see you youtube. Support creators or fuck right off
@coolboymew @thenewoil Not just on the Internet, they fucked up everywhere. For a long time there was no way to block ads on any existing forms of media. TV, radio, theaters, you just had to take it. Advertisers abused the fuck out of this by slowly taking up more and more air time to the point where here in America 1/3rd of TV air time is ads, and probably 1/2 of radio. On top of that, advertisers were growing complacent, focusing more and more on how to use psychology to subconsciously imprint their product into our brain, instead of making an entertaining ad that people would want to watch. And now that people have the ability to remove ads altogether, they are. Making entertaining ads is the only way advertisers have a chance on the Internet, because they're certainly not going to win the arms race against adblock, not even Amazon is able to keep up if Twitch is anything to go by.

>"Entertaining ads? What the fuck are you smoking?"
It's possible, Internet Historian does it, user-made banner ads on 4chan can do it. How can advertising companies do it? I don't fuckin' know, that's not my job to figure out.
@Anonagon @thenewoil No, I agree with entertaining ads. These were my fav on TVs. Good ads that everyone likes was, well, a pleasant time I suppose and somewhat of a goddamn shame none of them learned anything from the famous Whassup? ad. Pleasant funny ads gets around, for free, and doesn't make you hate the company (cough SJW pandering like with Gillette cough)

I dunno if it's because I'm in Canada, but my experience with Twitch and Youtube ads is horrible. They literally only have 2-3 ads, and most of it is for Amazon's shit in the first place for Twitch

@coolboymew @thenewoil @Anonagon I haven't used the official Youtube front-end in years, so I don't even know what kind of ads are on it anymore. But I think sponsorships are even more cancerous than ads. Seeing the creators themselves outright endorsing shit like VPNs that are confirmed honeypots or some microtransaction-heavy mobile game is outright cancerous.
