BTW the second dose only gave me a bit of a headache and some arm soreness. For all the vaccine hullabaloo actually getting the shot was pretty easy and the side effects were pretty tame.

@ArdanianRight I believe you. The short-term side effects mostly happen to those with antibodies to glycol which you apparently don't have, but it takes years to learn the long-term side effects of these shots. Prions created by zinc enzymes from the mRNA strands is still a concern and we won't have data on that for years to come.

@xianc78 Sure. It's just that all the long-term effects of Covid are also unknown, and based on data we have from similar diseases like SARS and MERS there's at least some noteworthy risks. There's no way of totally knowing everything about the vaccine, but in terms of trade-offs of unknowns the vaccine is less risky than the virus. People keep going on about the low risk of the virus killing a young, healthy person as proof that it's not a threat to them, but then move the goalposts to unsen long-term side effects in the case of the vaccine. I decided the vaccine was safe enough by waiting a few months while high-risk groups got the shot, and noted that large numbers of people weren't dropping dead.

@ArdanianRight If you think that's best for you that's fine. It's your choice. As for the long-term effects of SARS and MERS, it appears to only be severe if you had a severe case of the disease. I believe that the long term effects of COVID will be less severe given that it is less deadly than SARS and MERS. And people are 70-80% less likely to contract COVID in the first place if their Vitamin D levels are adequate. which is why I've been spending more time outside and taking supplements.

Plus, at least we know what the long term effects of other human coronaviruses are while we don't know the long term effects of mRNA gene therapies. Prions related diseases as a possible side effect seems to be much more severe and is enough to steer me away from it. Also, female sterilization was speculated by scientists as a possible side effect due to the immune system attacking the protein HERV which is homogeneous to the spike proteins in the virus (this wouldn't happen if they achieved immunity naturally as the virus doesn't have the same DNA as your cells) and now we are seeing woman having miscarriages and abnormal periods.
