So if you have a planet where an egg laying species develops sentience ... abortion. Would it even be an issue? You can just crush and/or flush the eggs, right? What if a female sits on the eggs and lets them hatch without telling the father? 
@xianc78 It would really uncomplicated egg donation. I wonder if some societies would evolve in such a way as everyone's eggs go into a general pool and the one who want to raise offspring grab a random egg. .... I wonder if they would eat their own eggs as a delicacy.
