imho the point of leftism is "power to the people". It's about fundamentally believing that there's something valuable in the collective sum of people worth voting, fighting or arguing for.

It might require a vanguard, but at the end of the day it's to promote the interests of the masses (whether or not you agree we actually have that in our hearts/can actually compute/calculate this, etc)...but it's to oppose the church, the hereditary monarchy pretenders, the aristocracy, and if necessary the state.

It's not purely about spite...but we do plenty of things out of spite.
@jeffcliff I think a realignment in thinking from left-right or individualist-collectivist to other dichotomies would be more healthy for us as a people. I have far more in common interest-wise with a class-first leftist than a boomercon bloviating about the wonders of capitalism.

Honestly, advocating for hyperindividualism in a democracy is philosophical suicide. It's amazing it's caught on like it has. Fuck Ayn Rand.
@mrsaturday I used to think that for awhile, and I respect people who hold firm to that.

but at the same time, I don't have to go very far to find right wingers in my mentions that remind me that really I am different from them. Expressing *how* we are different is a good first step imho
@jeffcliff Those differences are just counterproductive squabbling while we're stuck watching our agency and livelihoods get sold from us to the highest bidder. In my opinion, they should be sidelined until we take woke capital and corpo-libertarians down a few pegs.
@mrsaturday @jeffcliff If you've got leftists who have the guts to take a strong stand against the whole "trans kids" bullshit then that's fine. But being against megacorporations is no good if you're also anti-family and want to destroy everything I know and love in a different way. The point is protecting goodness and decency.

@ArdanianRight @jeffcliff @mrsaturday I'm pretty sure those like Karl Marx or Peter Kropotkin probably wouldn't be on board with the whole transgender thing, but they were known to be anti-family big time.
