Hubzilla
When I heard the term nomadic identity in a conversation, I immediately started looking into it.
A way to have your online identity and all your posts preserved and be able to migrate on a whim whenever and wherever you please?
And that's how I came across Hubzilla.
Launched in 2012, it's an alternative to Mastodon/Pleroma/Misskey with more advanced privacy features, but that also offers users a way to interact with the aforementioned social networks via plugin.
It exists since 2012, while Pleroma was released in 2016, yet I never heard of it until recently.
One would think that such an advanced social network software would be somewhat more adopted, but the userbase is incredibly small.
The most popular Hubzilla instance, node9, has merely 137 registered users total.
I don't mean to imply anything by the following statement, but Hubzilla gives off TempleOS vibes to me.

@okabe_rintarou I heard it's more akin to Facebook and more used for discussions rather than microblogging (think Facebook groups). I guess it hasn't caught on because people use Facebook-like networks for communicating with IRL friends and that's not common on decentralized networks.

@okabe_rintarou Yeah, it seems to be an all-in-one type thing: blogs, forums, videos, file sharing, etc. As a result, it's probably even more bloated than Mastodon which can probably explain why it hasn't seen widespread adoption.
