@Rudolf_von_Goldenbaum I'm not saying that we should cram everyone inside of Texas. I'm trying to debunk the idea that there are to many humans living on Earth.

@xianc78 I'm no expert but just calculating landmass has to be an oversimplification. Doesn't there need to be some ratio of empty land vs densely occupied land for environmental reasons, energy consumption, food requirements, etc not to mention just the subjective preference for having empty nature to admire? For example, Las Vegas famously requires a lot of water because its in the desert. It kind of sucks but its manageable. But what if the entire state had the population density of Vegas? No way in hell enough water could be supplied.

@Rudolf_von_Goldenbaum People underestimate the space required to grow food. A community garden could feed an entire neighborhood. As for energy, nuclear power would be our best bet. I'm not sure about water. Desalination could probably work since it's right off the Gulf of Mexico along with using ground water for the rest.
