@xianc78 Sure. And I believe we all agree gems > sea of trash. I won't deny a lot of trash is probably made via RPG Maker (later RenPy), but Ib, Yume Nikki (and its variants), alongside Witch's House are all really well done despite their simplicity.
The core issue with ease of entry is its consequence: the saturation of the medium.

I remember as an elementary school kid, every boy in school wanted to be a game developer when they grew up. This is the result.
