Well the Nazis lost a war against like 3 industrial superpowers. Their fall was due to some unfortunate military decisions, not because their economy was flawed. The Soviet model worked for a while just exporting raw materials like oil, gas, etc but they sucked at industry and as technology advanced they couldn't adapt. The Chinese fixed this problem.

I'd argue you don't want a free market. Free market means child labour is legal. Selling yourself into debt slavery is legal. Prostitution is legal without question. Overuse of antibiotics could become rampant.

It took most of the industrialized world about two centuries to really nail down some basic rules. Overreach is a problem. Companies with the power to create laws to crush their competition is a problem. Things like health care in the US where prices/costs are never known, or even socialized systems like in Canada where it takes months to schedule a surgery, are examples of things that are not-at-all-free-markets that try to pretend to be a part of a free market system.

But regulation also means you don't get sawdust in your cerial, and the amount of lead and faecal matter in meats must be tested for and kept under a reasonable level. (Contaminated meats are quite common in China, at least according to a Chinese roommate I had when I lived in Australia).

No market is entirely free. There has to be a balance, and the balance should always side towards the freedom to choose. Capitalism is choosing where you put your effort and resources in order to build capital.

No such thing as a "free market" outside of rhetoric. Markets are social constructs so therefore there needs to be some societal institution to exist to regulate and permit their existence. This idea that they exist in nature by Libertarians is the same mistake that Marxists make in believing that the means of production exist in nature.

A regulated market has proven to be the best means of distributing goods through society, not command economy rationing or form of anarcho-capitalism.

As a former right Libertarian I can say the reason that Anarcho-Capitalism has never been tried is the same reason true Communism has never been tried they just breakdown because they are not natural systems of governance and can not exist in nature. Libertarianism gets the chain of causality back to front saying Economics>Politics>Culture. They are argue that the only way to determine somethings worth or value is if you can quantify it in a spreadsheet. In truth the chain is Biology/Environment > Culture > Politics > Economics.
