>if Game Freak just released a set of turds, one called Pokemon Hard Stool, the other called Pokemon Watery Diarrhea.

They're saving those titles for when they outsource their programming team to India.

@xianc78 @ChristiJunior @meeper @coolboymew pokemon has become oversold hot garbage, so know what, i think its about time something overtook the throne. Something similar to pokemon, but not a blatant clone, something made with heart and with the cringe subtracted. If i ever hot into game development i always wanted to try an idea of a more serious version of pokemon. Not edgy, but getting creative with how pokemon like creatures would be used in the real world. Imagine battling on the frontlines with pokemon like creatures in a sort of world war… sounds neat, right?
@xianc78 @ChristiJunior @coolboymew @meeper
since its not free, im gonna check out free alternatives before i try it. still, thanks for the suggestion

@ItsSkyDragonz @ChristiJunior @meeper @coolboymew Just to let you know, the free ones are usually harder and require some programming knowledge. Construct 3 seems to be the easiest engine out there right now.

But if you are making something like Pokemon you could probably try out RPG Maker. It's paid like Construct but it has a free trial.

I won't pretend to be a game developer, but have you heard of godot? It's a pretty nice looking open source program.
@ItsSkyDragonz @xianc78 @ChristiJunior @coolboymew @meeper

@luke @coolboymew @meeper @ItsSkyDragonz @ChristiJunior Godot requires programming knowledge (either C#, C++, or Python), last time I checked. I'm assuming Sky doesn't have any. That's why I'm recommending ones without scripting like Construct.

@ItsSkyDragonz @ChristiJunior @meeper @coolboymew @luke They're both programming languages. They both derived from the C programming language and are common languages used in game development. C++ is used more in AAA games while C# is used more in indie games.

@ItsSkyDragonz @xianc78 @ChristiJunior @coolboymew @meeper Even if the game's not going to be anything like Pokemon or even as polished Palworld looks like it's going to be a riot, even if only in a really shitposty way
@coolboymew @ChristiJunior @ItsSkyDragonz @meeper @xianc78 Yeah, and one of the articles about it hinted that the slave labor M16 factory was owned by the player :marikek:

>That means the Pals will be handy companions in battle - so long as they don’t rebel - and we’ve already seen Pals be grabbed as a living shield, willingly offer themselves up as cover, and both manufacture and fire machine guns in the footage released of the game so far. In the game, you’ll get limited control over the Pals too. “During the construction of workshops or building, you can assign specific roles [to Pals],” Mizobe says. “While exploring, Pals will follow you, so their behaviour will be automatic. During combat, you can direct Pals to perform specific tasks, but you can’t actually control them. We respect the game Rimworld a lot and we want to do that, so even when you ask Pals to do something, it might not be perfect.”

>“In terms of the darker elements, we want to leave those decisions up to players. Player agency will be key in Palworld, which is why players can be good or bad. We want players to build their own story, and the gameplay mechanics are our way of facilitating that.”
@mrsaturday @ChristiJunior @ItsSkyDragonz @meeper @xianc78 as I've said a while back. It's absolutely nuts that THIS of all things actually has the goddamn 'mons actually looking like they're helping around of world rather than still having gen 1 level of "machoke is stomping on the ground!" bullshit
@ItsSkyDragonz
This is going to make someone mad, but Pokemon stopped being interesting by gen3, when it became apparent that they weren't interested in advancing the games beyond the scope of the original 8-bit experience.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is what the original Diamond and Pearl should have been like. They should have released on the Wii with online trading.

@ChristiJunior @xianc78 @meeper @coolboymew
@lain @ChristiJunior @ItsSkyDragonz @meeper @natsock @xianc78 I want it if it wasn't low effort shit

We're at gen 9 and pokemon still haven't had any answers about what to do with your pokemon. You have a JRPG about infinite party members and ... nothing, nothing is taking advantage of it

You catch 'em all for...? And then you put then in paid storage for...?

It's basically digital hoarding at this point

Campaign ain't worth playing, but there's nothing interesting post game. Hurr
@lain
If people treat it like a TCG or even something like Picross, then I understand why they would keep coming back. However, for RPG fans, one or two Pokemon games is enough.

Pokemon should have switched to an action based battle system on the N64. Every fight is a duel and you already have 4 C buttons. What a missed opportunity.

@Senpai-kun @ChristiJunior @meeper @natsock @ItsSkyDragonz @coolboymew But the GameBoy games didn't have huge 3D worlds. Combine 3D models and a shit-ton of text, and you will have a difficult time cramming that in. There was a reason why all the JRPGs were on PlayStation of Saturn.

@xianc78

Was red/blue that big? I'm starting to think this calls for scientific autism.
@natsock @ChristiJunior @ItsSkyDragonz @coolboymew @meeper @xianc78 Xenoblade may look pretty at a distance, but up close it wasn't any better. Either way I'm hoping they have learned a lot from Breath of the Wild's success.

I enjoyed the original Diamond/Pearl/Plat a lot, but I totally lost interest by Black and White, it was just the same thing over and over at that point.
@ItsSkyDragonz
@xianc78 @ChristiJunior @coolboymew @meeper
Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth and the series it's based on come close. Digimon Tamers in particular was about a popular toyetic franchise being real complete with glowies and Savers was about glowies taking care of Digimon in the real world. The mainline SMT games and spinoffs that follow mainline SMT settings and gameplay usually are like this as well.

Cyber Sleuth on the other hand is about a SL/VRChat clone gone horribly wrong with real world implications and while the writing is rough around the edges at time, it was better than any Pokemon game I've played in a long time. There's a reason it was compared more to Nocturne than Pokemon.
