@cee @allison I associate Fordism with The Giver more than Brave New World. Granted The Giver is basically BNW for kids, but I remember reading The Giver back in middle school and I was frightened by the idea of using drugs and genetic engineering to create a false utopia where people can't even comprehend the concepts of love, pain, emotional bonding, etc.

@xianc78 @allison ah yeaa i remember that movie, that was a pree good one. I'd imagine it be a branch of Fordism ,or even Post-Fordism; instead of control through pleasure, it would be a control through numbness.

@cee @allison Now that I think about it, the thought of that is even worse. At least in Fordism you get to experience fake pleasure. In The Giver, you are deprieved of emotions. Your life is basically that of a worker ant.
