>muh filibuster is racist etc
>look it up
>it's literally just a rule that says they need 60/100 to agree on something to pass it into law
>dems are seething over the fact their 52/100 majority doesn't let them pass all their retard laws at once
DESU it should be a 2/3rds majority so both sides of those retards have to actually agree on something and cut the partisan BS. It's a sorry state when they vote exclusively to their party-lines and not their own beliefs.

re: /pol/

@lelouchebag the porkwhatever that happens to bills should be illegal. Vote on them individually and a lot of bullshit will fuck off

re: /pol/

@coolboymew You mean when they're like "Oh, you want funding for education? Well here's a bill package containing it but we stuck a bunch of our other shit laws in"

re: /pol/

@lelouchebag @coolboymew I'm not taking a position, but the argument for pork is that bills only get passed by horse trading

re: /pol/

@Moon @lelouchebag by "horse trading" you basically mean "I'll vote for this if you put this"?

The whole system needs a reset really

re: /pol/

@coolboymew @xianc78 @Moon Desu I think if you literally
>give everyone term limits
>banned "donations" from fat CEOs to corrupt the law to benefit them
>invoked a 2/3rd majority on everything possible
>have justices not be selected by the president, but rather via the senate (i.e. by the people to a degree) and give them term limits too
Then we'd be a lot better off. What's likely going to happen is a bunch of fat CEOs are going to pay the 10 most liberal conservatives big bucks to vote differently or they'll remove the filibuster, and put it back at the end of the term

re: /pol/

@lelouchebag @coolboymew @xianc78 I'm pro term limits. There is an argument that long tenures help congressmen "learn the ropes" or "what if they're really good" I literally don't care lol GTFO after six years

re: /pol/

@Moon @coolboymew @xianc78 By "learn the ropes" they mean "get corrupted by big money"
@Moon @lelouchebag @coolboymew @xianc78 there's also Hoppe's argument, that the reason democratic legislators are bad is their reduced time horizon ("higher time preference") vs. a monarchic ruler (with "lower time preference") who intends for the country to still be held by his progeny. Democratic legislators only have so much time to loot the country while they're in power, and any permanent investment in it is hard to understand as a benefit to them, and term limits would make this even worse, making their looting more intense as even an investment with a return after seven years is too far in the future for a six-year legislator to benefit from.

But, that's just an argument, and standing opposite it is Nancy Pelosi who is still not behind bars for extremely blatant insider trading.

re: /pol/

@Moon @lelouchebag @coolboymew @xianc78 At this point I'd settle for forbidding anyone older than 70 from running for office. You get to finish out your term after 70, but after that, hit the links. Gerontocrats killed the USSR, and now they're trashing our country, too.

re: /pol/

@mrsaturday @Moon @coolboymew @xianc78 >biden turns 80 this year
I wish we had 2008 biden because damn are his speeches embarrassing. If trump made that many stutters/mistakes they'd be howling for weekly mental exams

re: /pol/

@mrsaturday @Moon @coolboymew @xianc78 Also remember when they were shilling that trump was senile and thus unfit to serve in office? Pelosi even tried to hit him with the 25th amendment for it: https://thegrio.com/2020/10/11/nancy-pelosi-trump-25th-amendment-explained/
...And now they're dead silent about it when we clearly have someone with some form of alzheimers in office, because it's their guy

re: /pol/

@lelouchebag @Moon @mrsaturday @xianc78 the good news with all of this shit is that it's so goddamn blatant it massively redpilled loads of people

re: /pol/

@lelouchebag @coolboymew @mrsaturday @xianc78 out of trump biden and clinton trump is clearly the least ravaged by physical ailment, which is hilarious considering his terrible lifelong diet and lack of exercise

re: /pol/

@Moon @coolboymew @mrsaturday @xianc78 I was shocked when I found out he was 70, he acts like 50

re: /pol/

@lelouchebag @coolboymew @mrsaturday @xianc78 he doesn't even appear to be slowing down yet, that could change fast at his age though
