With the final season ongoing, I figure it's a perfect time to make a thread about Attack on Titan, and why it's the closest thing we'll get to a fascist/national socialist TV show this side of total victory. The first part will be for people who just watch the show, then I'll get into the manga.

@xianc78 @Charlie I strongly suspect some of the swerves at the end had to do with Isayama not wanting to acknowledge the obvious implications of his work. Mind you he doesn't even glorify that side, he just presents them in a manner that's somewhat close to fair.. We're not pretending the author wants to glorify that side, he just happened to present it in a way that's too compelling.
He wrote a world where a race of people act exactly like Jews and the response of most readers/viewers is “please Holocaust them Eren” and let me tell you I find that VERY interesting
@SerfnUSA @ArdanianRight @Charlie @xianc78 there's a Jewish comedy where the main character briefly learns that he was a goy all along. The episode is half jokes about him buying a fannypack and half depictions of him abruptly expressing goodwill and charity towards other people.

Actually he is, because racism and antisemitism are objectively cool and trannyism is not. Therefore it does not matter if he's doing the same kind of overanalyzing because that was never the point.
