I know it's shit, but should I learn node.js? Every other sever-side solution seems to get the same amount of hate and I really need to put more shit on my resume so I can have a decent job once I graduate.

@xianc78 don't do webdev (thank god) so disregard my opinion, but I would choose Elixir without a second thought. Functional, concurrency baked into the very fabric of the language (itself aided by being functional), macros, just all around far superior (again, on paper, in my inexperienced opinion) to any other option.

@sukapon I didn't even know what Elixir was until I heard that Pleroma was written in it.

@xianc78 @sukapon Pleroma would be way more popular and would have way more contributors if it were written in a mainstream programming language.

@caekislove @sukapon I find it weird that so many people refer to the entire Fediverse as "Mastodon". They don't seem to be aware that other software exists for the network.

@xianc78 @sukapon Especially since mastodon dot social has walled itself off from any instance that doesn't have the same Terms of Service as them, defeating the entire original purpose of federation.
