Last night someone who follows me here told me that that and the COVID censorship campaign woke him up hard. He deliberately avoided GamerGate and fandom drama online as well. Now imagine how many fence sitters and NPCs who aren't true believers it hit, how many with bad shot side effects, etc.

@Terry @PhenomX6 @xianc78 I mean, gamergate did accidentally uncover some real shit they weren't exactly looking when they were digging into who was getting paid by who. Ofc, nothing happened with that info that found about some DARPA gamification research and the like. Literally buried under pointless board drama according to anons who were active at that time.
@GD5426 @Terry @xianc78 From what I remember it was several things: it was the message board drama, it was the fact one of the guys who dug that up was a possible schizo who killed his dad after (IIRC) he was convinced his dad was working for the Jews/following Jewish propaganda, and then the media covered for Silverstring Media by saying "oh it was just evil gamergate people taking down brave art collective".
Oh and also the fact that the Nick Monroes/PressFartToContinues got big from "BIG LEAKS BRO" that lead nowhere or never had a payoff. You know, kind of like what places like The Gateway Pundit do every day with politics.

@GD5426 @Terry @xianc78 Look what happened with the Sci-Fi guys afterwards. They were far more effective because they didn't mope online, they actually did stuff. They're used to self publishing, they're used to indie publishing, and the latter is why even a niche programming language or so many "HOW TO LEARN C#" books exist on Amazon for example. Or it's why every z-list e-celeb has their own book they can shill even if it's garbage and full of typos.

That's literally why once I've moved out in under a month I'll be starting to focus on learning programming/art and whatnot since I've had vague game ideas for a while on what could be fun.
