Before I self hosted I used to laugh at how every single mastodon instance has 4000 rules. I'm sure I'd scare off those people too if they saw me replying to problematic instances or posts because just talking to them instead of people in their bubble means you're a Nazi now.
While I'm at it, I think it'll be interesting to see the fediverse end up divided even if you decide to run a private instance where you'll find yourself blocked by someone you've never talked to because of something a neurotic drug addict came up with.

They've boomed in the last few years, usually in more underage filled circles of the internet with fad chasing teenagers. That's my theory because there's even more detrans ftms than mtfs by a landslide.
