I perfer EXR, TIFF and TGA but they're overkill for most people.

They're for production, not end-user content but they have other stuff that makes them useful for me.

They can store multiple images in one file, EXR usually are 32-bit colour instead of usual 8-bit and few minor stuff, like multi-channel, tags, etc
