@Moon @solidsanek How do you define "web3"? You say it necessitates blockchain, but why is blockchain necessary?
@Hyolobrika some people hate it because they think it co-opts the world wide web as a thing to be a successor to. Which is a fair complaint, i dislike the name for the same reason but it's solidified so i use it.

Not necessarily. There are things like the Dat protocol which is a P2P file sharing network with a built-in version control.
@xianc78 @Hyolobrika you're right, I make a distinction with blockchain because there is a built in incentive system to continue hosting (small amounts of) data.
