IIRC the main culprit people usually cite (Germany) actually does let you waive copyrights but certain reputational rights don't get waived no matter what you do. Anyway, it's not like I intend for this to be some airtight legal thing, and if someone has concerns, they can always contact me privately and I would be more than happy to work something out for them.

@allison I think a lot of other EU countries don't recognize it or don't recognize it unless the author has been dead for x amount of years. I can't name any off of the top of my head though.

I also know that some countries like Russia treat public domain differently. In Russia, you are still required to credit the author.

CC0 and the Unlicense both have fallback licenses. I personally recommend the CC0 for non-software works.
