I basically agree with all of that.
Except that there are other potential ways to do long-distance transactions. For example, Hypersyn (which is just a concept and not private yet) and @cjd's "decentralised fiat" idea (my term not his) that he posted about here once.
The latter consists of lots of private entities such as businesses issuing their own tokens which can be exchanged automatically for the right token when you need to buy something. The system described in The End of Money and the Future of Civilisation by Thomas Greco reminded me of that. CJD's idea was to use a block chain and cryptotokens but since they are issued not mined or staked perhaps that's unnecessary and Chaumian e-cash can be used instead?
Just read the 1982 paper for e-cash to remind myself how it worked.
I think it could be made more anonymous if clearing happens through Tor etc and the 'bank' sends back a new note instead of crediting the payee's account.
@xianc78 Would be nice if you'd add RSS support to your site.

@ryo I don't use a static site generator. I would have to update it manually.

@xianc78 I know, though it's pretty easy to make RSS feeds by hand, especially considering how you don't really seem to publish articles as often as I do.

>What Crypto Is Really Good For

I think one very important property of crypto is invisibility. You can have a lot of money and invest it in things you think are important but no one would know about it. State agents can easily take away physical stuff but it's almost impossible to find a well-hidden crypto wallet.
Such level of financial security was once enjoyed only by the elites, but now we have tools that are accessible to everyone, and that could result in noticeable re-distribution of power in the world.
