An old internet game: do an image search for "[your name] the hedgehog" and laugh at the results. Assuming my name is John, this is what I would get:
@lanodan I tried making that search with "-halloween" added and it gave me a bunch of Helen the Hedgehog instead.

Search engines have gotten really shitty lately.
@noyoushutthefuckupdad @lanodan try yandex, google images is in the toilet now, it's really awful
@Moon @lanodan I used Brave Search. I haven't used Google in years; death to Google.
@xianc78 @lanodan @xianc78 @Moon @noyoushutthefuckupdad had a feeling this would devolve into "which shitty search engine is best"

@Ace66062 @lanodan @Moon @noyoushutthefuckupdad I'm just sick of people defending Brave (both their browser and search engine). They are no better than those who defend Mozilla.

@xianc78 @xianc78 @lanodan @Moon @noyoushutthefuckupdad It's a good browser though. Maybe not its search engine but the browser itself works well and now it blocks cookie request popups. I don't even care about the crypto shit.
@xianc78 @lanodan @Moon I did a Brave search for "moon landing fake" right now and got a couple of relevant results along with the usual Reddit/I FUCKING LOVE SCIENCE/fact checker bullshit.

Article destroyed.

@noyoushutthefuckupdad @lanodan @Moon The moon landing was fake. Do you really think they went there when the US was so behind in the space race at the time? There was even a photo that was taken off of NASA's site when the "sun" was proven to be just a light bulb.

@xianc78 @lanodan @Moon I'm not here to debate that shit. I just wanted to refute that article's claim that Brave doesn't show moon landing denial results on the front page.

@noyoushutthefuckupdad @lanodan @Moon This is what it gives me. I also did one on 9/11 being an inside job and I got Reddit threads, an article about a former conspiracy theorist's regrets, and the "psychology" of conspiracy theorists.

@xianc78
That doesn't necessarily imply Brave is downranking conspiracy theories. It could easily be that the internet is more interested in the mainstream narrative rather than fringe conspiracism. Which is possibly due to the downranking done on other, less scrupulous engines.
@noyoushutthefuckupdad @lanodan @Moon

@Hyolobrika @lanodan @Moon @noyoushutthefuckupdad Brave uses it's own index and people who use Brave Search are less likely to get into mainstream articles.

@xianc78
I meant that possibly Google/etc's practises gave mainstream articles more crosslinks, which gave them a better ranking in Brave.
