Telling someone to ask themselves if it's worth it doesn't do much good if the person they trust as on authority on such matters is encouraging it. So best you can hope for is these people don't self-destruct too hard.

There’s a certain sensation of helplessness with that kind of thinking. I’m not criticizing you, I’m saying it because it’s just true in general.

The problem is that by the time these people take the leap and hit the ground, there’s very little left of them that can be salvaged, to make them functioning human beings again. These changes being forced upon them are so very permanent that any kind of “regret” will just further unstabilize them and, of course, make them seek suicide.

It is in fact possible to stage an intervention but it has to involve active parents who aren't overreacting because their choice to watch cable news/sports/boomer shows and wagecuck and not raise their kid caught up to them (they can't be too disassociated), and parents aware of the issue. A lot of absent parents don't care that their weird kid has withdrawn into the internet and the next thing you know he's chopping his dick off and moving to Seattle to be homeless.

Everyone will give up on said friend or smell that the end is near, and next thing you know he'll find out that all his friends now secretly hate him and are taking running bets on when he'll do crazy shit. I think there’s a reason why they only tend to go after the “softer” types. I do believe that “mean people” generally have a stronger eye for discernment, and also tend to be much more cynical.

Instead those types want to destroy me.

Doesn’t it make you feel important though? Especially knowing how evil they are, that they feel that they can’t operate if people like you, people like me, are in the way? It gives me a sense of purpose beyond what I already had in front of me that was external to them.
