@realcaseyrollins The future is self-hosting you own fucking videos. HTML5's video tag should've killed Youtube.
The future is self-hosting
Could be. But it would take at least one or two more revolutions/transitions of how people share and post content online, as well as pleasant interfaces to access the content. #Torrent technology seems most viable but I’d image it’d take 20 years (if not longer!) to get to what you’re talking about.
Self hosting for personal use is already pretty easy. I’m using #PLEX to make my own personal streaming service out of all my #iTunes and #DVD and #BluRay purchases.
Anyone concerned about bandwidth; just compress this shit out of your videos.
Fair; I have a #Handbrake preset that can do this for me (but I try not to use it). But if it’s not like a short clip for social media usage, I’d prefer if the quality wasn’t degraded quite so aggressively. I ain’t tryna watch #MrRobot in 360p, for example.
@xianc78 @realcaseyrollins I love not having to link out to some third party. Anyone concerned about bandwidth; just compress this shit out of your videos. Short clips can often be made smaller than even common image file sizes.
