I can't believe I wasn't aware about this until now. Apparently, there is an organization that is creating cheap, open-source industrial machines that can be used to create small, self-sustaining communities. Basically, 3D print your own village.

I bet distributists like @Andrii would love this.

Oh yes, the project is huge! The guy that launched it doesn't receive a lot of help though, afaik, hence most projects are progressing slowly.

@leo @Andrii Yeah, they seem to have been around since 2003 and it's only until now that I have heard of them. But I think more people will start donating now because there has been an increased interests in micronations and intentional communities as of late.

@xianc78 @leo oh yeah, I heard about them a while ago.
Been following them on and off. They are mostly on the technical side of things.

The only reproach I have regarding this project is that it often uses high techs that need rare materials. I am more of a analogic kind of designer, more interested in the Amish lifestyle than anything else. I don't reject computer-based technology but I think we shouldn't have it at the center of our lives.

@leo @xianc78
fair enough. Yeah my goal is to have like a miochondria style self-contained robot unit, which a community can have, that is responsible for making various electronics, etc.
