should buying companies for the sole purpose of platform exclusives be raked in to the antitrust codes :neocat_thonk:
i sort of feel that since competition is only good where it increases search space, we should prohibit market functions that do not increase search space. the console exclusive war is one example of such a thing. paying people to not make supplies for other tractors is not increasing the search space, it is a wealth attack against the market. just like paying people to "not put the game on steam" is similarly a wealth attack.

but that's just me and i'm just floating the question. i'm sure literally everyone is going to tell me i'm a dumbass and wealth attacks are perfectly functional capitalism

@icedquinn In a true free market, console exclusives would probably not exist because there would be no intellectual property. People can make games based off of any IP for any platform and port them to whatever they want. There would also be so many console clones created by different manufacturers that consoles would just be like movie and audio formats.
