@zemichi @coolboymew The PS5 is suffering from the same problem OS/2 and some of the Android competitors with Android app support did.

"If more people have the PS4, let's target the PS4, it does everything we want to anyway for this game".

There's new console games coming out on the PS4 that will play fine on the PS5 and devs don't care because people will buy the PS5 and still use it as a PS4.
@Pawlicker @zemichi that's pretty spectacular because Switch 2 could be more on par with a PS5

It's ultimately raising the question of "why does that gen exists?" when a lot of devs are just fine with the previous power. The power increase is seriously starting to see a diminishing result. mid-tier devs are catching up while AAA games are getting uglier

@coolboymew @Pawlicker @zemichi where does the rumor of the switch 2 being on par with the PS5 come from? Nintendo have been occupying the "underpowered and affordable" category for at least twenty years now, I can't imagine they'd pivot out of nowhere.

@VD15 @Pawlicker @zemichi People into hardware doing educated guesses. Portable hardware CPUs have blown up recently and these consoles are using that kinda technology in the first place. Heard something around that it could be on par with between a PS4 Pro to PS5 pretty easily

@coolboymew @Pawlicker @zemichi I can easily see a mobile processor out-performing the PS5's SoC because ARM is just nutty like that. I've seen people claim the switch 2 is gonna be 4k but as someone who's never felt the need to go above 1080p60, I don't think we're gonna get better than 1080p60.

@VD15 @Pawlicker @zemichi @coolboymew >I can easily see a mobile processor out-performing the PS5's SoC because ARM is just nutty like that.
CPU? Sure, I already have a handheld stronger on that front.
GPU? Forget it, the efficiency gains since RDNA2 aren't that high. The upcoming Strix Halo will be an APU with similar CU count but it's going to be like a hundred watts, firmly in gaming laptop/miniPC territory, 15-28W handhelds aren't going to cut it.
@birdulon @Pawlicker @zemichi @VD15 Remember the consoles really aren't impressive on that front either

On Steam, for example, Death Stranding has a freaking 1060 as "recommended" settings, that was PS4 and 5 years ago. Meanwhile, Tales of Arise which is a PS4,5 and newer Xbox game " GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon R9 390"... Yeah. Spider-man Remaster and Miles Morales? ... 1060. Granted these are also available on Ps4 but man shit is not impressive, my rig is literally 8 years old now
@birdulon @Pawlicker @VD15 @zemichi I went to check suicide squad

Recc: Graphics: NVIDIA RTX 2080 or AMD RX 6800-XT (16GiB)
Min: 1070

Yeah, this is very poor
@coolboymew @zemichi @VD15 @birdulon this game runs on intel graphics, ran on a PS2, has a private server, and is like pso on gas station dick pills
@Pawlicker @zemichi @VD15 @birdulon

> and is like pso on gas station dick pills

Wait, the spin-offs are good?
@coolboymew @zemichi @VD15 @birdulon it's not a spinoff it's an entirely different setting.

The Universe setting also includes Phantasy Star Portable and Portable 2/Infinity. It changed a LOT of the "shitty" parts about PSO out. It just took years for the private server to drop.
@Pawlicker @zemichi @VD15 @birdulon is it also "technically" canon to the old games?

IIRC there's nothing in PSO's story that would contradict the games. In PS1, IIRC, a planet explodes and there's a bunch of ships that escape the planet. PSIII's story cover one of them IIRC and there's nothing preventing PSO's story being about another

But I could be mistaken

@coolboymew @Pawlicker @zemichi @VD15 @birdulon PSO2 established that all sub-series exist in their own universe, but are connected in a multiverse.

@xianc78 @coolboymew @Pawlicker @zemichi @VD15 @birdulon PSO2 was also made by people who think Star Ocean 3's plot twist was a good idea that they should copy.
@Pawlicker @zemichi @xianc78 @VD15 @birdulon I played some of it when it finally released west and it was not very fun. It felt like a massive mess. Also it mostly was very easy to climbing the missions
