I find the whole "making Easter Trans Day of Visibility," thing to be pretty funny.
All it does in lefty circles is provoke memes and eyerolls since they know it's blatant pandering and a desperate attempt to save face with the younger base since they all hate Biden (correctly) for kowtowing to Israel.
Meanwhile the Conservatards are having literal meltdowns over the "demonic government" perverting a Christian holiday, which has been so secularized at this point that a non-insignificant percentage of Americans don't even realize it is one anymore.
This is some high-quality wasp nest kicking, I'm here for it.
@Indigo i'm pretty sure they did this on purpose to anger the christians but w/e
@icedquinn Maybe. It got people talking about something that isn't the economy, Israel, or Ukrane, so it did its job as far as they're concerned.

@Indigo @icedquinn Except people already talk about transgenderism as much as those things, if not more.

@xianc78 @icedquinn This is true, but I think that was the idea, kicking the hornets nest on purpose to draw out a reaction. Gives Biden and co. "points" with the the progressive left, if only on a superficial level. They need to get them back on their side right now if they want to beat Trump, it's just funny how nobody's fallen for it this time.
@Indigo @xianc78 i think very few people really want more dementia patients in office. from what i've seen the fedis still voting for the guy are literally just 'republicans bad'
@icedquinn @xianc78 That's the whole Democratic platform right now "it could be worse, so vote for us."
Trump is a grifter hack, we all learned this when he was President, and I think my use of the term "Conservatard" expresses how I feel about them. But at least they're presenting a platform their platform as an alternative, that's why they're probobly going to win.
What we need are age limits of holding public office (maybe mandatory retirement at 65), and term limits across the board. But the people in power right now would rather die than give it up, we're probobly going to just wait for that to happen before we get any real progress, unfortunately.

@Indigo @icedquinn Don't expect successors to make reforms in a shadow oligarchy.

But....despite what I have claimed for a while, there is one way that voting *MIGHT* still work. Miles Mathis brought this up. It's a write-in-vote. You write your own ballot instead of using the pre-printed ones or any of the voting machines. You can pick candidates that are not on there. Legally, the booths aren't allowed to throw away ANY ballot. Granted, they can throw it away anyway, but if we can get the masses to do it, they won't be able to get away with it. Sure, it will be hard to get a majority on board, along with a presidential candidate that we can trust but it is worth discussing.

@xianc78 @icedquinn I mean yeah... but I'm old enough to remember when we were all going to write-in Ron Paul in 2012 and... no dice.
Not saying it's not possible, it just requires more coordination than I think the American people (as they are) are capable of.
@Indigo @xianc78 you have to break them of the idea that republicans and democrats are two separate parties, for one.

@icedquinn @Indigo My ideal candidate for this hypothetical write-in ballot would be independent, though he/she might alienate "mainstream leftists" because I want him/her to expose conspiracies (which are associated with the right these days) to the public.

@xianc78 @Indigo 'the right' is just the latest bogeyman. the government always has one.
@xianc78 @Indigo i need ultimate power because _______ and if you don't let me have it you hate america

choose:
- the far right extremists
- the terrorists we funded
- communism
- the nazis
- probably goes on
@icedquinn @xianc78 @Indigo It's ethically necessary to let in people who don't share our values, and it's now ethically necessary for me to have ultimate power so you don't kill eachother
@icedquinn @xianc78 That's how it goes, yeah.
Problem, Reaction, Solution.
(David Ike was right about that, Lizard people stuff aside).
@xianc78 @icedquinn In principle, I agree with that. But the reality is that I don't think the American political system is in a fixable state at the moment. Even if a hypothetical independent president started trying to make real change, I don't think the people in power would really let it stick.
@Indigo @xianc78 it would look a bit like RFK and Paul: completely iced out of primaries by any shenanigans possible.
