i'm shit with electronics but hear me out: voyage 200 replacement board, something like sensor watch.

the voyage 200 are found cheap on ebay, because at least here the school-calculator-racket was still going strong a few years ago.
why not switch out the crappy internals for something good. color display and pi compute module or something like that. kinda like devterm. unfortunately i really am not good with electronics.
