It looks like @drewdevault, the coward who secretly authored (and tried to deny authorship) of the Stallman Report is now trying to nuke every part of his past.
The DeVault Report contains tons of archived links showing Drew is super into lolis, like crazy into lolis. He's written bots/scrapers and image hosts just for his loli addiction.
He accused Stallman of defending potatophiles, and yet DeVault's own reddit history shows him constantly defending nonces.

So I think it's clear he's behind it. Even if he didn't write all of it, he certainly helped and hosted it, and in the HackerNews thread he pretended it was someone else's report he wasn't involved with.
while it's fun to clown on drew, it's bad to ignore how there could be a whole shadowy cabal of retards out there and drew is just the one with the spotlight. he was involved with irc channels, he consults his idiocy with people online and irl... there's still names to look into for people who care, and it's wrong to mislead them.
But it's interesting he's not banned on Hackernews (I am, both my personal account and my site, battlepenguin.com, were banned in early 2021). I do think there's more to this; as in someone(s) using him as a useful moron to try and dislodge the FSF leadership.
The open source world is getting super weird right now. Torvalds just capitulated to government sanctions against long term Russian contributors and called everyone who criticized him bots/trolls. Automattic should have had an easy case against a Silver Lake backed company that was clearly violating their trademark, but instead he's shown how little he knows of the law and looks like a massively insane, deranged asshole.
Then again, it could just be DeVault is supporting this because of his own ego. Hyprland is vastly superior to Sway, so rather than try an make Sway better, he defames all the Hyprland devs.
It use to be that open source devs helped each other make good projects, even if a new project competed with their own. It seems like when there's no money to compete over, and everyone's been maladjusted by social media, the next step is just to attack everyone whose better than you with unhinged bullshit.
I don't think he still works on sway. Same for wlroots and probably bunch of other stuff people will attribute to him, he just started them and left.
In fact, I can't picture ddv acting out of malice at all.
If he wasn't acting out of malice with his previous rants about Hyprland/Stallman/other crap, does he genuinely believe in his stance? Is he a True Believer™?
And how does that square with the recent revelation of his loliphile/pedo advocacy on his Reddit account? Does he see himself as totally different than RMS's stances? He obviously must see the problem or else he wouldn't rapidly trying to delete everything from these old accounts.
What do you think his motives are? Are they purely his, or are there outside influences? A little of both?
@djsumdog @menherahair I feel like he hates Stallman because unlike him, RMS keeps his free software activism separate from his other activism. Drew, on the other hand, believes in the whole "everything is political" bullshit and wants the FOSS movement to cater to his narrow worldview. You can clearly see that if you check SourceHut's ToS, where he bans White nationalists (with Trump supporters being lumped in) and crypto related projects. I don't think his hatred for cryptocurrencies isn't out of ego, unless it's an attempt to ruin funding for his "competitors".
Other than the pedo advocacy allegations against Stallman, Drew DeVault has openly criticized the GNU CoC for not being "trans inclusive" enough and has suggests replacing the CoC after kicking out Stallman, and he thinks the FSF and GNU project should be ran by LGBT and PoC.

Funny, because open source software is probably the best (if not the only) example of the masses beating back capitalism and producing significant value from nothing but time donated by self-interested individuals willing to share the fruits of their labor with no expectation of remuneration.

Yea ... that's not how a lot of the big open source software is made today. There is money behind everything from Gnome to KDE. Intel/IBM piratically own the Linux kernel at this point. The Linux Foundation's staff have been caught using Macs and Microsoft Office for most things and a fraction of their money goes to development. Gnome recently had to let go of staff. Elastic and Redis have broken their commitments to FOSS and closed their licenses .. and the OpenSearch alternative to Elastic is funded entirely by Amazon as a massive fuck-you fork to them. Mozilla is a fucking advertising company.
We're a long way from the 90s and the days of FreshMeat/SourceForge/Slashdot.
Open source is not an example of "beating back capitalism" .. it might never have been really.
@djsumdog @menherahair @eriner It was probably easier to profit off of FOSS back before everyone had high-speed Internet because you could just sell the software on CD. Now you either have to have funding from a major company like Google, go the Patreon/Liberapay model, sell your software as a service, or bundle your software with hardware like System76.
