It wouldn't let you .. but if you could somehow do it, the mechanical safeties on the control rods would melt, they'd fall into the tank, and the reactor would "trip," and it takes a few million dollars to start back up ... and you'd be fired.
@djsumdog @Hyperhidrosis What about being criminally prosecuted? They would likely have evidence of your intentions...
It would honestly take several people .. at least 6, but probably well over a dozen. There's so much built into modern reactors to prevent another Three Mile Island. Even Fukushima shouldn't happen at most US plants. I know a few where the diesel backup generators are setup to work fully submerged in floodwater. Even if the intake/exhaust gets blocked, the cooling ponds are designed to be gravity fed.

If a nuclear plant goes, we're not getting another one, so power companies do not fuck around with that shit.

@djsumdog @Forestofenchantment @Hyperhidrosis If it takes multiple people to launch a nuke, of course the same amount of security would be used in nuclear reactors, if not more. A nuclear meltdown is actually a lot worse than a nuclear strike.

@djsumdog @Forestofenchantment @Hyperhidrosis But this is assuming that nuclear radiation is harmful to began with, which is doubtful.
