This sites gonna die harder than craigslist

@PurpCat People said that Reddit was dead after the controversial API changes, but people still use it.

@Forestofenchantment @PurpCat So they are in even worse places now. At least Reddit allows you to lurk.

@xianc78 @Forestofenchantment yes

The API changes are one thing, being unable to talk about something because Elon musk bad is another

@PurpCat @Forestofenchantment That's so pathetic. I never liked Reddit in the first place, but they seem to have started out as something at least respectable. However, they never seem to stop finding a way to become much worse in terms of moderation and features.

@xianc78 @PurpCat @Forestofenchantment reddit started as a digg clone. it was respectable for the first year
@xianc78 @Forestofenchantment The thing with Reddit is it's a mix of "the staff allow X to happen" and what the staff allow to happen is for the powermod clique that spawned in places like SRS to run the site.

The only time the staff actually care what the powermods do is when they directly threaten the existence of the site, like when users there were making threats after the DOGE staff doxing, otherwise they either encourage/enable it, or do nothing.
