Do these people realize the connotation that the number 4 brings in Japanese culture?

@xianc78 It's a worldwide Steam release and everyone I've seen is pumped for it, I don't think the unlucky number 4 stigma is going to bite them at all.

@allison It just reminds me of how the Japanese call the Xbox "the no-box".

@xianc78 did, anyway. now even sony has swapped x and o around because they want to enforce consistency across regions.

@lanodan @allison People blame that for it's failure over there.

@xianc78 @lanodan In actual fact the failure was because it didn't have mass appeal and only really targeted hardcore gamers (many such cases tbh)
@allison @xianc78 And well XBox is basically just the same thing as the PlayStation, good luck competing against them in Japan lol.
@lanodan @xianc78 in the og xbox and 360 eras it absolutely wasn't. there were tons of exclusives and arcade ports and nearly all of them were peak. that being said, xbox one fumbled the bag massively in all regions and even with series s/x being a solid offering, it still can't compete with ps4 steam or switch

Huh, weird should still be 04th april over here (+02:00).
Anyway I think I'll wait for it to go on sale, ~40 USD is a lot (although 3900¥ is a much more reasonable 24.03€, inb4 I end up buying it in japanese online stores).
@lanodan @xianc78 4/4 12:00 JST, for me it'll be late 4/3. And honestly for what is on offer here and the tortured development the game has had $35-40 is nothing. Mihara mentioned in a tweet that he would have to price it at 11900 yen to recoup the loss for development with the sales figures he's expecting. Regardless, it's a day 1 purchase for me and there's a good chance I'll end up buying several gift copies too.
@allison @xianc78 Well I'd pay the 40 bucks if it were some DRM-free store.

Got too many times where the steam client just refused to launch or would freeze on logging in, so putting actual money there feels like a waste.
@lanodan @xianc78 that's what goldberg & friends are for. steamstub is basically the minimal drm that actually counts as such so they can wave it as a talisman in front of developers to placate them while not compromising the experience for the end user.
@allison @xianc78 Seems to just be about steam_api.dll which I really don't care about if I can't download the game (or a subsequent updates but gamedevs don't do maintenance) in the first place.
