In hindsight Jordan Peterson's speeches landed as "Sure that orphan crushing machine is bloody awful, but have you considered you have a messy room?"

I think the real reason he went mad was realizing that many of the people he thought just needed to sort themselves out were living in a chaos he couldn't fathom, much less bear.

@gabriel I do not take anyone who combines psychology with their own personal politics seriously. That's a dangerous combination as it just leads you to believe that anyone who disagrees with you is mentally ill.

@xianc78 @gabriel 'mental illness' isn't really a useful model to begin with, because there's no immune system and no cures and there's not even an enemy for the immune system to fight. Probably not a coincidence that mental illnesses have become a vanity identity for social media profiles, and a convenient enemy taxonomy (the world is bad because of all these anal-retentive right-wingers / left-wing narcissists).

What can be mixed with politics: human conditions that affect clarity of thought. Cognitohazards, taxonomic errors, virtues and vices, emotions, nervous system states, prompted perception and attention.

Psychology isn't all bullshit but it's probably captured much like economics. The Federal Reserve needs people to not understand how it warps the economy, and Freud's elite friends needed the public to disbelieve Freud's patients who said BATSHIT CRAZY stuff like "my dad raped me".
