As much as I enjoy seeing Drew Devault getting a taste of his own medicine, it still doesn't change the fact that the cancel culture isn't going away and the people who are doing it now are probably much worse.

This ideological purity spiraling and bringing unrelated political issues to movements needs to stop and this list of AI-free projects that Drew is blacklisted from is a good example.

Now, I respect anyone's decision to boycott any and all projects/products/services/companies that use AI. In fact, in the coming years we will probably see something like the Non-GMO Project, but for AI. However, once you bring unrelated politics into it, it immediately falls apart and it drives people away from it.

Case in pint, the open-slopware AI-free list has blacklisted Suckless, Cat-V, DHH, and Jack Dorsey. Now, Jack Dorsey seems to be pro-AI, but he is also blacklisted for working on blockchain projects. I guess it never occurred to them that it's possible to be anti-AI but pro-blockchain. Suckless is one that only exists for reasons that seem out of context. One person pointed out that they had a meetup and they hiked with tiki torches, but tiki torches have existed long before C-ville. The other reasons they listed seem to be weak.

And to top it all off the list has badges that say shit like "enbyware" and "sponsored by the gay agenda". Not very helpful for those who just want to live without "AI-slop" and don't care about your other bullshit. Though, if you put your tinfoil hat on for a moment, maybe this is part of the plan. Maybe the AI pushers want you to accept AI in everything so they are going to make these AI-free projects/companies/organizations look unappealing as possible just like how they made organic products be associated with smelly hippies.
