@xianc78 hotline was an old BBS software that was for Macs/Windows PCs and GUI based, over the internet.
It was huge at one point then the greedy users (who wanted you to pay for warez) and development drama killed it.

@PurpCat Oh yeah. I remember you talking about it and how the creator wished that he made it FOSS and/or decentralized so it could live on.
@xianc78 yeah the protocol at least got documented and there's FOSS compatible clients, unlike some of it's "replacements" like KDX.
Namely, Aspyr and Feral have pivoted towards porting games to consoles, iOS, and Linux. You can literally play Alien Isolation on mobile because of those devs and nobody else is doing ports like that.
