@Jazzy_Butts @nik @lethe @scathach well for a few reasons. Drag is very exaggerated, over the top and a caricature. As we know from primary sources, this was very much not the case with the boyplayers excluding certain comedies in which every character was a complete over the top caricature (and this being continued on when cis women took on the roles for those plays)
Kynaston (written as Kinaston in Pepys' Diary) for example played in many serious roles and is described as such including passing extremely well. This was acting in a role which I don't consider to be drag at all. It's not a caricature, there's no mockery intended or desired.
The "boyplayers" of the pre-ban lift by Charles II were not drag queens, far from it.
