@Jazzy_Butts I'm really not worried about it; whenever it asks about sharing data I just say no, and I don't have my facebook account attached in any way, not because I distrust facebook in the privacy way (I do distrust them) but because if I were to get banned on facebook it might affect my ability to use VR and I don't trust Facebook to not ban me for silly things (they haven't yet but I don't trust that).
The main thing they WANT to collect is scan data and again, they prompt for this stuff. They are using it for improving their environment saving and tracking tech. But if you opt out they definitely aren't sending it, and they aren't sending video data of any kind ever (too dense and VERY obvious on the network).
It doesn't seem like things are sending anything other than basic anonymous app telemetry that everyone collects these days.
Your other option for standalone in this price range is Pico but there's also concerns about that headset leaking data to China? And I see people having a lot of trouble with them if they aren't as technical.
You can also go Quest 2 for 200 bucks now which is honestly quite similar to Quest 3 when talking about VR but it has much more limited AR and hand tracking (The AR cameras are greyscale and the hand tracking requires more light and contrast as there's no scanning laser like the Quest 3). It is a bit weaker than the 3 but this really isn't that noticeable cuz it's also a bit lower resolution.
Both of these headsets are stand alone and can also be used to connect to your PC wirelessly for PCVR stuff if you have a good PC. Even if you don't though you have access to a LOT of great games on Quest.

I can talk to you about other stuffs too and see what you are interested in but I do think that Quest is a great place to start and Quest 3 is my daily driver; almost any time you see me here I'm in it haha.
