@Orakel @matrix Admitting guilt when you did nothing wrong, in the hope of escaping punishment, is nonsensical and cowardly.

Cowardy? Yes. Nonsensical? Hardly. I am sorry, but since childhood everyone learns, that it doesn't matter if you did or did not do somerhing bad, but what matters is if people believe you did it and if they believe you truly understand what you did.

The problem is, that childern cannot fight to prove they are innocent, so it's easier to apologise, so parent won't punish them too hard.

that being said, the adult world truly does work differently.
1) Adults are judged based on actions and not intents, so feelings of guilt rarely do change the punishment.
2)Adults are expected to be able to defend themselves both moraly and factualy. So, if you either didn't do it OR you think there was nothing immoral about it, you're not supposed to apologise.

Apology is not only admition of "guilt", but also admision if IMMORAL guilt. Now that is the difference.

And just to finish my point, I have no idea how many times I heard parents and teachers say "Apologise as if you mean it!!!" when a child did not agree with it's own guild. And if the kid did not apologise, the punishment kept escalating until the kid did apologise.

So of corse noone lears what does an apology mean... It's obvious that it's beaten into their skull that they must apologise even when they did nothing.

What kind of hell do we live in never ceases to amaze me.
