@hard_no also the truth that man aren't ready to hear is that there are a ton of women who would like to be stay at home moms but your average guy lacks both the mental maturity and the financial security for that to be possible

@mushroom_soup@kiwifarms.cc I agree to an extent, mostly men and women currently don't know how to actually communicate, and people jump into things without really thinking long term. I'm a hardcore trad lady, and tbh it takes a lot of desire and hard work on both ends to make things work; you have to be on the same page as far as goals from the very beginning if it's ever going to happen.

@hard_no think about your average 24 year old guy and tell me if you think he's ready to be the breadwinner and emotional anchor of a family
@mushroom_soup @hard_no I'm not trad at all but it seems near impossible. Wages aren't high enough anymore for a sole income provider except in unusual circumstances, or an older person who has risen up in a company. In some countries its probably OK but in the UK at least there's no chance
@oxblood @hard_no same here, and if you do find a young guy who makes a lot he usually has a ton of student debt (here in the US)
@mushroom_soup @oxblood @hard_no Millenials got in on the bottom rung of the college Ponzi scheme.

According to the Pew Research Center, the number of college-educated young adults with a bachelor's degree is at its highest point yet — 40% of millennial workers aged 25 to 29 had a bachelor's degree in 2016, compared to 32% of Gen Xers in 2000 and 26% of baby boomers in 1985.

(Won't spam all the statistics, but that 40% number leaves out another 20% who went to college but didn't complete a degree.)

The economic trap you're seeing is that only college grads are able to afford single-income households right now. But not only do they carry debt for the "privilege", that career path also leads to putting off settling down and starting a family until later in life.

Wait a minute...

60 percent of people try collage? That means, that even with collage you are still averege. Literally average. What the hell? :alexjoneshey:

@LukeAlmighty @hard_no @oxblood @mushroom_soup Exactly. When people talk about the college bubble, they aren't exaggerating.

The reason grads can't find jobs now is because they made it so "accessible", the supply of college grads flooded the demand. Look at the first chart for Gen X/early millenials; this was the generation that fed the college boom of the late 90's and early 00's.

By contrast, look at the rates of TOTAL degrees in the population over the last 80 years. That start point in 1940, the beginning of the Silent Generation, only 9.3% of the population had a degree. By the end of the generation it got up to 16%.

Millenials hold roughly 3x the degrees as their grandparents, and should expect the "investment" premium from them to shrink accordingly.
@PunishedD @LukeAlmighty @hard_no @mushroom_soup @oxblood I agree on this. College degrees are considerably losing worth with every passing year since the market is saturated with college graduates. Hell, even a teacher in the last year of college told us that after we are done we are going to be flipping burgers unless we do a masters degree. And he was right. That or 3-4 years of volunteer work to build up some job experience.

To anyone i would tell don't go to college unless you want something specific that requires a lot of study like law, medicine or engineering. For everything else, you're better taking up Professional training. Cheaper, gives valuable education and practical knowledge on a trade. That or go straight into work and start raking in experience.

If only i knew back then my degree would be useless paper that would get me no jobs i would have become a professional musician like i was offered.

I know a guy who is obvious intellectual. He studied art and said to me, that they told him IN FIRST CLASS that only 20 percent of graduates get a job in art...

Well. He didn't get a job in art. :kekw:

@LukeAlmighty @Morghur @hard_no @oxblood @PunishedD @mushroom_soup
Commercial Art is very lucrative, but most commercial artists never went to university. They usually just started self teaching art ( there's ton of available material online ) and just practice, practice, practice, went to conventions, got their portfolios reviewed, applied whatever critique they received, etc. Funny enough, commercial art is insanely meritocratic AF.
@TheMadPirate @LukeAlmighty @PunishedD @hard_no @mushroom_soup @oxblood And this is why no matter how good i draw, i don't want to become a professional one. The world of professional artists is insane and stressful as shit.

Find a programmer and do an adult visual novel.

I tried inspecting files of a decent one, and just so you know the scale, it had a total of 3 000 pictures, most of them 30x30 pixels face variations or UI.

But that thing makes 3k per month, so if you split it with one programmer, it is a decent start

@LukeAlmighty @hard_no @oxblood @PunishedD @TheMadPirate @mushroom_soup I don't have friends that are into that and even if they were, my own drawings are still way too shitty for me to evendo something remotely professional. And also, i do traditional so that's another huge hinderance.

I also thought of going the Patreon route but i have too much self respect to become an e-beggar. Plus, i don't want to make my hobby my job, because that is a quick way of fucking everything up.
@LukeAlmighty @hard_no @oxblood @PunishedD @TheMadPirate @mushroom_soup I know you have good intentions, like some other people that have told me to do comission work since it would get me some money and i would also get to practise and improve my skill.

But i know myself better than anyone and i know i am inconsistent as all hell, terribly perfectionist and many other things. And there is also the fact that i only do traditional, which is another important thing.

@Morghur @hard_no @oxblood @PunishedD @TheMadPirate @mushroom_soup
Man. I love programming. When done twice per year. :kekw:

So yeah. I definitelly know what you're talking about there.

@LukeAlmighty @Morghur @hard_no @oxblood @PunishedD @mushroom_soup I remember that Ren'Py engine that many gamde devs use for Visual Novels. It's Open Source y seems very decent.
