I think my drugged friend just made me break the pure-right barrier.
I make a ton of money. 4 times what he does. He is also in debt. So, I started to save up. In case, he got into trouble, I planed to bail him out.
Then, a few weeks ago, when I wanted to debate with him about it, he started to tell me how much he hates rich people. That they do love money more then human life and want to just keep it. (while he was eating a huge hamburger I paid for... obviously)
That hurt a lot. That few lines broke my hearth, since I realized he is not willing to accept happiness, and even if I gave him the money, he would not be able to mentally accept the freedom it offered to him.
I’m nerding out on Atlas Shrugged here,.. but you sound exactly like Henry Rearden coming to the realization that his family and friends despised and used him because he was a producer, and rather than helping them with his charity, they were using it to hold him hostage psychology

It's easy to bail out one friend when you have 4 of them total, but if he want's to make it 3, I seriously don't feel like arguing anymore.

Hi again. I see it was a week since we began talking about this topic, but I needed the time to think about it. If I am just anoying you, feel free to say so.
I can clearly see that the book was a product of it's time. I know that it might sound like a universal critique, but what I mean is that although the society did begin to fall apart even back there, it took only the best to see the roots of it.
Now, we can see problems with the society much more clearly, so there are different problems that need consideration.
The entire philosophy of objectivism seems to be it's core anti-comunity. that is obvious, but what is the family but a small community? While this is the point of atlas shrugged on the big scale, it makes you wander if the book itsef (that I will have to read now) does actually offer any solution.
Can you actualy create an objectivist community? Can a family be formed in this way? And if not, are there actually any people who did a better job at anwsering these questions, then the usual "man up" that we can still get from intelectuals like "Jordan Peterson"?
