Weren't they claiming that win 10 was the "final windows"?

@LukeAlmighty @sjw@neckbeard.xyz Yeah. I thought it was going to be like Mac OS X where they just keep on releasing updates for that version.

BTW, I still think that win 8.1 had 10 times more potential.

@LukeAlmighty @sjw@neckbeard.xyz Windows 7 was the last good one, IMO. Once they required you to have a MSN account just to install Windows, I switched to Linux and never went back.

Win 7 was the last one with reasonable ammount of malware, but 8.1 tried the whole dual os thing.

Win 10 hid it and started pushing content updates with nothing but trash.

@LukeAlmighty @sjw@neckbeard.xyz Microsoft started marketing Windows 10 as a "service" and used that to justify mandatory updates and remotely deleting Linux partitions among other things (though I think they stopped doing the latter). I still don't know why people put up with this. There are so many clips of streamers who got scheduled restarts mid-stream.

Windows 8 had elements of this. I didn't like how it had news notifications from MSNBC by default or the required MSN account I mentioned earlier. Windows 7 was the last one where your computer really felt like it was yours.
