Because she get alimony payments for the rest of her life without having to cook or clean for him or have sex with him. Its purely a financial/ legal thing. Nothing to do with her seeing a mean tweet from "womanhater69XD" or something.

@PapaPol @xxshtxx @Publius @coolhandjames I think it’s a rhetorical problem. If you say “take women’s rights away”:
You are agreeing with the progressive view of history that women were oppressed instead of protected.
You are implying that the solution would be bad for women because you’re trying to take their rights away.
So, that will naturally make people shy away from the idea. What we need is an accurate description of what “rights” they would lose and a better framing to describe it.
@apropos @PapaPol @Publius @coolhandjames @xxshtxx
it’s going to be interpreted as the taking of women’s rights away Sure, by your political opponents, but ideally you should frame it in a way to convince people who could be persuaded.
Some things that people perceive as rights simply aren’t. No fault divorce, alimony, division of marital property, the “right” to serve as combat troops, the “right” to serve in any capacity at all as an agent of the state, etc etc.
@LukeAlmighty @apropos @xxshtxx @coolhandjames @PapaPol @Publius They called it their rights. And it worked. Had they said “we should enslave men to work for us or go to jail”, it probably wouldn’t have. That’s my point, that sometimes, you need a proper framing to be able to pass policy. It doesn’t even need to be deceptive, it just needs not to sound bad.
