Why do we use beds?
I mean, they are nothing but an expensive stand for mattress. Why did it became so world wide spread custom to place the mattress on a fragile stand?

@LukeAlmighty Bugs and mice were much bigger issues I believe. Personally I don't mind sleeping on the floor on a mattress or a sleeping bag
