More specifically workers have no collective bargaining power. The power imbalance between employer and employee is lopsided and cannot be fixed individually.

Communism has definitely existed in places in the world where there were people who did not want to be communist.
There's an important distinction between a society run by communists, USSR and so on, and a communist society - class less, state less, currency less society with common ownership of the means of production.
This is the trouble I always have with ideologies that come from the left. They tend to define themselves by their promised outcomes and not at all by their working mechanisms. It's a syntax I just don't operate in.
In this case, he is not even a libertarian. He thinks he is, but he is a bit wrong. A libertarian would be able to support voluntary labor unions as a general concept, even if they don't like specific ones in practice. His extreme levels of individualism prevent him from being a libertarian. He cannot even endorse the concept of a voluntary collective.
