I love how technological progress goes directly against the needs of globohomo.
Yes, You could theoretically fit an entire library of alexandria into a single micro SD card, but why make in a universal format, when you can create a proprietary device, that will have exact same hardware as a phone, but only one function unlocked.

I did not say that they have a powerful hardware, but it is universal enough, that with slight changes, it could run Linux and be capable of loading some software.
But I might be wrong in this case.

@LukeAlmighty Depends on the SD card.
E-readers are great. They don't have the same hardware as phones, the hardware in them is garbage in order to save cost and battery life. Most of their cost is the display.
